Low End Theory December 2006 podcast

Staring it off is the Nuremberg duo Boozoo Bajou followed by the international collaboration known as the East Star All-Stars dub rendition of Pink Floyd's Time. G-Corp drops in with Liberation Dub off A Different Drummer Selection proving that link between the UK and Jamaica is still as strong as ever. Next up is the Argentine Sensation known as the Gotan Project laying down some fantastic Argentine dub. DC's own Thievery Corporation follows Gotan with the instrumental version of their classic Lebanese Blonde. It's back to Germany for De-Phazz and their intelligent drum-n-bass flavoured Roses. Japans DJ Krush and US' Ronnie Jordan paired up some years ago to release Bad Brothers with slick renditon of Miles Davis' So What. In this mix we throw down Love I've Never Had It So Good. Montreal's David Kakon AKA Jaffa gets the remix treatment a la Herbaliser with Elevator. The remixes don't stop with Nightmares on Wax stripping down Shirley Bassey's Easy Thing To Do to her bare self and letting her voice soar into the clouds. Peter Kruder picks up the pieces and plays with our senses with his Peace Orchestra track Double Drums. Madlib was given the honour of digging through not one but TWO classic labels in the past few years, one was the reggae staple Trojan and the other was the jazz staple Blue Note, this guy is lucky. We follow Kruder with Madlib's reworking of  Gene Harris' Slim's Return off the Blue Note/Madlib Shades of Blue album. What would the Low End Theory Podcast be without a track from that album? Incomplete, my friend. Ali Shaheed, Phife and the man they call Tip AKA A Tribe Called Quest if you don't know sneak up on us with Jazz(We've Got) - "But the Low End Theory's here, it's time to wreck shop". Now if I have to introduce the next player then you just aren't doing it right. For those that don't know it's Big Daddy Kane - Not like many. Kane lets us know that there Ain't No Half-Steppin in this game. Lost Boyz trick us into thinking it's The Ruler but then Freaky Tah let's you know it's Jamaica Queens representing. Wyclef Jean and DJ Muggs hit us with mafia tale that mentions Def Leppard, Vanity of Last Dragon and Prince fame . We finish it off with Robert Nesta Marley, nuff said, seen?
