Low End Theory Podcast March 2007

We at The Low End Theory wish to warn you - this podcast may cause physical harm.

We carefully hand crafted possibly one of the greatest podcasts in the long storied history of podcasts. It is our belief that if this podcast was vehicle it would be a Ferrari 575m. We considered having Ricardo Montalban introduce every song but our spiritual adviser said that the voice of Ricardo combined with the sheer funkiness of the podcast would be too much for the common funkateer to handle but he did ask you to stay classy!

This month it's all about the mash ups. We've had quite a few rare and funky mash ups passing through the Low End Labs lately and this month we've compiled some of the best we've heard plus some funky favourites. First up its Radio City featuring Bajka with The Hop, a nice little groover to get your head noddin. Follow that up with the Limp Twins and Living Well. Limp Twins are Will Holand of Quantic fame and Russ Porter laying down some hard hittin beats. I wonder how many snares they went through recording this track. Hot damn does it get funky from here. Last month we had Lefties Soul Connection smacking us upside the head with their version of Organ Donor and this month they don't let it slip with Doin the Thing. These guys are making some amazing tracks. The Bamboos almost seem to blend right into Doin the Thing with Step it Up feat Alice Russell. Next up is a track off the compilation Impeach the Precedent, DJ Einstein feat Zaakir from the J5 with Have & Have Nots. A true school hip hop snack. We came across this smoked out version of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's the Message from Paul Nice and had to find a place for it. Sliding right out of this dub treat is our first Artist of the Month Freddie Cruger feat Anthony David with I Wanna Make you Move. The next two tracks are from the Mashed Up Funk series. First it's Dave Jackson, a funky ass Jackson 5 mash up. Following that is another funky mash up of god hisself, Rakim. Theory favourites Kabanjak follows that with To the Bone opening the way for DJ Shadow's Hardcore. I know what your saying, please it's too much but keep your stick on the ice. You can take it. Next up its Ohmega Watts feat Othello with Long Ago. Last months opener Wicked Lester pokes back into this month near the end with the Dr Rubberfunk remix of Honey. Also last month we had Spanky and QSO with Don't Joke...part 1. This months it's Don't Joke...part 3. Which brings us to the last track for March and winter 2007. Now the doctors here at Low End Theory have given me very specific instructions for the last track.

Please do not play this podcast before 1:00 am. When you are primed and ready take the party down to the basement or any other dark place and you hear the closing sounds of Don't Joke...part 3 make sure all the lights are off, grab your partner and head to the closest wall because this last track - Red Astaire - Love to Angie is 100% guaranteed to get your ass shaking and grinding. This is shear baby making music. Remember to use a raincoat!

Someone from ol' New Zealand is beaming from ear to ear thanks to this beautiful little gem. A sublime composition. I'm feeling the love!
